I’ve always been a crafty beach, able to turn salvage fabric purchased by the pound into luxurious window treatments using little more than a hand me down sewing machine and a glue gun (because really I know I’m going to change it up in a couple of months so I might as well just make it look pretty on the outside). As I’ve aged I find my interest in all things crafty have changed a bit also. I love to sit down in my craft room surrounded by bright-colored paints and spray inks and create something unique and totally just for me in my art journal. It’s become my way of debriefing at the end of the day when the kids and the wife are in bed. Right now my obsession is my Gelli plate, it is amazing what it can do! I made journals for my older daughters for Christmas using a mixture of Gelli plate created backgrounds and my inkie, painty backgrounds with loads of background stamps, doodles and little encouragements through out. My only regret is giving them before I was able to get pictures of them. My oldest daughters cover was made with a beautiful shimmery olive-green with gold tint fabric that I inked up on the Gelli plate just to give it movement and my other daughters was a funky kraft colored wrinkled up, inkie beauty that opened to revel a 3 part writing area designed especially for a lefty. I kick my self in the butt for not getting pictures! Live and learn I guess
I’ve also been making my own stencils to use and have fallen in love with all things Ganesha who is the Hindu god of wisdom and learning.
Isn’t it lovely! I’m going to try to incorporate a vinyl decal of it somewhere in our house. I just haven’t figured out where yet! I love being able to create and cut something so intricate!
